What is Psyllium Husk?

Is a source of soluble fibre, psyllium slows digestion. This allows your body to absorb more nutrients from your food as it passes through the stomach and intestines. Psyllium is a form of fibre made from the husks of the Plantago ovata plant’s seeds. It sometimes goes by the name ispaghula. Psyllium husk contains soluble fibre that may benefit your digestion, and heart health. Can be used in cooking as a binding agent and a thickener. It helps with the elasticity, flexibility, and proofing of gluten free bread dough. It also absorbs a lot of moisture, so extra liquid is needed in the recipes.

Where does Psyllium Husk Come From?

The plants from which the seeds are extracted tolerate dry and cool climates, and are mainly cultivated in northern India.
