What is Zanzibar Island Spice?

Zanzibar is a fragrant and unique hot spice blend from East Africa, with zesty and earthy notes from coriander and a note of aniseed from fennel. It’s delicious in curries, on roast potatoes or just with a bowl of rice.

Where does Zanzibar Island Spice come from?

The spices in Zanzibar were brought in by sea merchants operating across the Indian Ocean route. It began with the Sumerians, Assyrians, and Egyptians before the Chinese, Indians, and Persians came to the island. Later, the Arabs, Portuguese and British also visited Zanzibar.
