What is Hot Chilli Powder?

Either from the Kashmiri or Bedgi chilli plants, the dried ripe fruits from the plants are ground into a fine powder. The fruits are sun dried amnd then partially separated from the extraneous matter. It has a very strong, persistent, pungent flavour. It has an earthy aroma. It has a rating of 1000-2000 SHU on the Scoville scale.

Where does Hot Chilli Powder Come From?

The Kashmiri chilli is grown in India, maily in Jammu, Kashmir and Hamachal Pradesh. They are harvested in the winter.
