What is Chopped Sage?
Sage is a herb for cooking. The leaf can also be used to make medicine. There are many species of Sage. The two most common species are Common Sage (Salvia officinalis) and Spanish Sage (Salvia lavandulaefolia). Sage can be used to treat various different aliments. Sage is a commonly used spice. In manufacturing, Sage is used as a fragrance component in soaps and cosmetics.
Where does Sage Come From?
Sage, (Salvia officinalis), also called Common Sage or Garden Sage, aromatic herb of the mint family (Lamiaceae) cultivated for its pungent leaves. Sage is native to the Mediterranean region and is used fresh or dried as a flavouring in many foods, particularly in stuffing for poultry and pork and in sausages. Some varieties are also grown as ornamentals for their attractive leaves and flowers. Several other species of the genus Salvia are also known as Sage.
